Our September work
We were very excited to return to school in Ms. Ryan’s 2nd class and we spent all of September focusing on the theme of ‘Myself’.
Everyday we did some mindful exercises to help us feel calm and safe. Along with our abc mindfulness, rainbow breathing and practicing our elephant breaths, we also made some balancing well-being butterflies to remind us of what we can do to improve our well-being when we are a little bit sad or stressed out. We also did a mindful doodling exercise which we all really enjoyed!
We focused on addition, place value and our tables in maths. We had lots of fun playing numeracy games in groups at our tables!
As well as learning all about our local community and our family tree, we loved putting on our dramatic hats to recreate our favourite group still image from the story ‘The Children of Lir’.
Did you know that your muscles contract and relax when you move your hand? Well we proved this fact by making our very own hand model in science using card, straws, pasta and wool. After learning all about our teeth I think we have a few future dentists now in 2nd class too!
Some of our artwork in September included making our very own marshmallow teeth, Covid special memory rainbows, getting inspiration from Pablo Picasso and creating our very own self portraits (using cubism) and some Cassie Stephens inspired mask art.
